Based on a true story, 'Saving Madonna' by Kate Bristow tells the story of Elena Marchetti, an aspiring art curator, who decides to risk everything to help save priceless works of art from the occupying German army.

An aspiring art curator, Elena finds work helping Pasquale Rotondi, the local superintendent of the arts, who is hiding thousands of priceless works from the occupying Germans. Elena reconnects with her childhood friend Luca Rossi, and their friendship soon develops into a budding romance.

When Pasquale hatches an audacious plan to move the hidden art to the safety of the Vatican, Elena and Luca decide to risk everything to embark on the dangerous mission to save Italy’s cultural heritage.
